How It Began

In 2006, while based in London, our founder Yuta Sato visited Europe's largest interior design trade fairs in Paris and Milan for the first time — Maison&Objet, MACEF. What he saw there, the sheer completeness of the products on display, struck him deeply.

"If I brought this to Japan, wouldn't it sell?" On that single instinct, he jumped into the import business as a complete outsider — ten years as a company employee, zero industry experience, 34 years old.

No knowledge, no track record. But one conviction never wavered: the desire to deliver things of real value.

Meeting ZACK

The first exclusive distribution agreement we signed was with ZACK, the German stainless steel interior brand. Functional beauty and honest materials — it embodies exactly the kind of "authenticity" we care about. For nearly twenty years since, we have continued as ZACK's official Japanese importer.

Our client base has grown to span retailers such as Loft, United Arrows, and Cassina ixc., luxury hotels including the Palace Hotel Tokyo and Grand Hyatt Tokyo, and developers such as Sumitomo Realty & Development and Sekisui House.

Twenty Years In

Honestly speaking, once we found stability, there was a period when we nearly forgot the desperation of our earliest days — the fear of watching our bank balance slowly shrink, the days spent cold-calling our very first clients. Somewhere along the way, that edge had quietly faded.

That is why we now think of this as a "second founding." Building on our core business of interior goods import and wholesale, we continue to design what comes next. That is what Besign was always meant to be.

What matters most to us is being a company with values. We don't chase trends. We choose trust over profit. We handle only what we believe to be genuine.

HOVS — House of Values — is our way of putting that stance into a single phrase. It remains the foundation on which we keep building.
